Service Dogs

Changing Lives,
One Dog at a Time

501(c)(3) non-profit

Our Mission

Hudson Creek Service Dogs serves disabled individuals suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). We believe access to life-changing treatment should not be barricaded by cost or disability. We are one of the few nonprofit organizations in the United States that provides psychiatric service dogs at a needs-based cost to veterans and civilians alike.

Hudson Creek was founded with a deep passion for aiding the homeless dog crisis and a strong belief in an alternative approach to producing fully trained service dogs. We exclusively train rescued dogs aged 1-3 years old, changing two lives by giving a special dog a new life helping a disabled person live a fuller life.

President & Founder

Indea Holt

I founded Hudson Creek Service Dogs after my service dog, Laila, changed my life. I developed PTSD after extreme childhood illness. I relied completely upon the support of my family to navigate the world… until I got Laila! With her help, I got to go to college, travel independently, and can do most of what fully able people can. I realized that my life’s purpose and joy is seeing people’s lives positively transformed through dogs.

I built a community on Laila’s Instagram page (@lailatheworkingcollie) and became involved in the larger service dog community. I realized the injustice of those who had access to these life-saving service dogs. The vast majority of organizations do not provide service dogs to civilians with non-combat PTSD, and even fewer provide financial assistance. I believe these populations deserve service dogs.

I currently work alongside Barbara Simpson, my mentor and Laila’s original trainer, at Rolling Meadows Academy of Dog Training.

It is extremely expensive to produce service dogs. Hudson Creek service dogs cost $25-30k to train and place, which is in line with the industry averages. These costs include an initial rehoming fee, veterinary cost, professional training of 8 months to 1 year, travel, facility costs, and more! We meet our clients’ financial needs through donations, covering as much of the financial burden as necessary. Every donation helps someone in need get a dog!
